Kerry compared to Duke Cunningham

Kerry compared to Duke Cunningham
Posted by: slade on 2006-11-01

OK, breaking news, Kerry just issued an apology to "any service member he has offended."  A little late, but there it is, an apology is appropriate.

Just to show you that the outrage is all political, let's compare and contrast the fake outrage regarding the Kerry incident with a REAL OUTRAGE: the Duke Cunningham bribery scandal. Remember Duke?  He took several million in bribes from defense contractors.  He's been indicted, convicted and is currently rotting in a jail cell where he belongs.

The question is, WHERE WAS THE OUTRAGE FROM REPUBLICANS regarding real crimes by one of their own??  Where were the hordes of Republicans falling all over themselves to get on the record condemning Duke Cunningham?  Which hurts the troops more: a misstatement by a senator, or a congressman skimming off taxpayer money meant to be spent on the defense of our country, and, in return for the bribes, causing hundreds of millions more taxpayer dollars to be funneled to crooked defense contractors?

The answer: there was no wave of public outrage by the Republicans, and guess what? Cunningham's cohorts in Congress are still there, routing taxpayer money intended for defending our country to their friends in return for campaign contributions and more.  If you want to learn about a real outrage, click here.  Oh and by the way, one of the crooks, Duncan Hunter, wants to be your president.

Kerry was wrong.  Kerry should have been more contrite from the start.  But please, PLEASE! Do not insult my intelligence by trying to spin this as yet another example about how John Kerry, and by extension all Democrats, do not support the troops.
